CLA - Assembly
Description:
The CLA Assembly is the policy-making and legislative body of the college and
has authority over educational matters affecting the College as a whole. It has
the power and responsibility to 1) make provisions, rules, and regulations necessary
for the governance of the college, 2) act on any proposals for changes in the
departmental and school structure of the college, and 3) provide a forum for
opinions of faculty, students, staff, and administration.

Frequency: Meets twice per semester
CLA - Budget Advisory Committee
Description:
The CLA Budget Advisory Committee advises the college dean on all matters related
to the college budget, including faculty positions to departments, programs,
and schools, and advices the college administration on procedures to gather information
serving that purpose.

CLA - Council on Liberal Education
Description:
Makes recommendations concerning the liberal education
requirements for undergraduate students.

CLA - The Course Review Committee
Description:
The CLA Course Review Committee reviews and approves proposals
for courses to be added to the curriculum and policies governing transfer of
credit. It identifies and refers to the dean course proposals with significant
financial or policy implications.

CLA - Curriculum, Instruction, and Advising Committee
Description:
The Curriculum, Instruction, and Advising Committee reviews
proposals to establish, revise, or eliminate degree programs; advises the Dean
and the Assembly on all matters related to the structure of the college curriculum,
college-based instructional policy, advising structures and processes.

CLA - Instructional Awards
Description:

Benefits Advisory Committee (BAC)
Description:
Addresses faculty and staff benefits.

Forum on the Responsible Conduct of Research and Scholarship
Description:
The Committee is responsible for planning a yearly forum
that focuses on the understanding of what the “responsible” in
"Responsible Conduct of Research” actually means.

Graduate Assistant Health Insurance Committee (GAHIC)
Description: The GA Health Insurance Committee helps to design
and reviews RFPs for the GA health plan, recommends vendors, and tracks
plan utilization.
COGS works closely with the reps to keep tabs on the process and give input
and feedback on the various issues. COGS has undertaken two surveys (spring
1998 and winter 2000) to elicit grad assistant feedback on their health plan.
COGS encourages GAs to send any questions or issues about the health plan
to COGS so that these can be folded into the process and so we can
help individual
students resolve problems.

IT Consultative Committee
Description:
The IT Consultative Committee is used by the Dean for consultation and it can
also take initiatives and make recommendations to the Dean.

and include faculty plus civil service and one P& A representative, one
undergrad.

IT Library Advisory Committee
Description:
Determines library needs of faculty and students and makes recommendations
for purchase/suspension of media (e.g. journals, books).

Occupational Health and Safety Committee
Description:
The Committee provides a forum where health and safety policies, procedures
and programs can be discussed openly with
input from labor and employee work groups as well as technical departments
such as Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Management and Disability
Services. It has developed recommendations on programs such as occupational
health care, the presence of minors in laboratories and multiple chemical
sensitivity. It has been chaired throughout by Ian Greaves, Professor,
School of Public Health and supported by Department of Environmental
Health and Safety staff.

Parking & Transportation Advisory Committee
Description:
Addresses ongoing concerns related to parking and transportation
on the Twin Cities campuses. Advocates for student needs.

Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC)
Description:
Represent the needs, opinions, and ideas of graduate students within the University
about issues concerning student health. Consider the overall needs of the University
community. The time commitment consists of attending SHAC meetings, gathering
student input from COGS and your department, and meeting with a Boynton staff
liaison as needed. If there is more than one interested student member, there
are also At-Large positions available.

Student Legal Services Board of Directors
Description:
The Student Legal Services Board of Directors are responsible for defining
policy and fees charged for student legal services. In addition, the
Board (with guidance
from the Office of Student Legal Services) is responsible for determining and
defining the Office’s responsibilities, the budget, and the education programs
to be offered. Although there are a number of non-student members who sit on
the Board from various offices across campus, the Board is run by the students.
In addition, voting members are only students.

Student Onestop Advisory Committee
Description:
The Student One-Stop Advisory Committee oversees and has input into the physical
and virtual Student One Stop Centers. The physical One Stop Centers are in
the West Bank skyway between Blegen and Willey, Fraser Hall and Coffey Hall.
The virtual one stop center can be accessed at Onestop.
It is important that the Advisory Committee represent the full range of student
voices and concerns. This is your chance to have input into the structure and
services of the Student One-Stop Centers. Working together we can build One
Stop Centers that serve students as effectively as possible.

Student Tuition Advisory Board
Description:
Makes recommendations on student tuition issues.

UDS Student Advisory Committee
Description:
• Description: The UDS Student Advisory Committees seeks student
input regarding UDS services across campus. The group will meet regularly
with UDS management and individual unit/department management as appropriate
to ensure student perspectives are included in UDS related planning and
decision-making across campus. The initial focus of the advisory committee
will be to provide input related to CMU’s First Floor Café,
including products, service hours, and the actual build-out of the venue.
In addition to addressing other issues that may arise from time to time,
the committee will also provide input to UDS regarding other food related
products and/or offerings that could be provided on campus.

University Grievance Advisory Committee
Description:
Advises the President on the operation of the University Grievance Policy
and the performance of the Grievance Officer.

Description:
